How Long Do Listings Stay Online? Automatic Expiry and Renewal Rules on markto.ch

markto.ch listings do not stay online forever — they have an automatic expiry period to keep the platform fresh and relevant for local buyers.

Standard Expiry Period

  • Active listings remain visible for 30 days from the date of publication (this is the most common duration for private ads on markto.ch).
  • After 30 days, the ad automatically moves to expired status:
  • It no longer appears in search results or category listings.
  • It is hidden from public view.
  • It remains visible to you in “Meine Anzeigen” (My Ads) under expired or archived items.

Some categories (e.g., real estate, vehicles, jobs, services) may have slightly different durations:

  • Real estate / rentals → often 60–90 days
  • Vehicles → sometimes 60 days
  • But for most everyday items (electronics, furniture, bikes, clothing, etc.) → 30 days is standard.

How to Check Expiry Date

  • Go to “Meine Anzeigen” (My Ads) after login.
  • Each listing shows:
  • Publication date (“Veröffentlicht am…”)
  • Remaining time or expiry date (if shown)
  • Status label: “Aktiv” (active), “Abgelaufen” (expired), etc.

Renewal / Republish Rules

  • Automatic renewal → does not exist. Listings do not auto-renew.
  • Manual renewal → very easy:
  1. In “Meine Anzeigen”, find the expired ad.
  2. Click on it → look for “Erneuern”, “Wieder veröffentlichen” or “Republish” button.
  3. Click it → ad is immediately reactivated with the same content (you can edit first if needed).
  4. New 30-day countdown starts from the renewal date.
  • You can renew as many times as you want — no limit for private users.
  • Tip: Renew just before expiry (e.g. day 28–30) to keep momentum without losing views/inquiries.

Special Cases

  • Marked as sold → removed from public view immediately (no expiry timer).
  • Scheduled ads → go live on chosen date → then follow normal 30-day expiry.
  • Rejected / blocked ads → never go live → no expiry applies.
  • Drafts → never expire (stay in your drafts forever until published or deleted).

Quick Summary

  • Default lifetime: 30 days (active & visible)
  • After expiry: hidden from public, still in your “My Ads”
  • Renewal: manual, one click — resets the 30-day clock
  • No auto-renewal or fees for private sellers

Check “Meine Anzeigen” regularly to catch expiring ads and renew them — it keeps your items in front of local buyers and maximizes your chances of quick sales.

Keep listings fresh and deals rolling! 📅
