Securing Your markto.ch Account: Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Setup
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds a strong extra layer of security to your markto.ch account. Even if someone gets your password, they can’t log in without the second factor (usually a code sent to your phone or generated by an app).
Does markto.ch Support 2FA?
As of the latest available information, markto.ch does not have a visible, built-in 2FA option in standard user settings (no dedicated toggle in Security or Account sections). Many smaller/local classified platforms launch without 2FA and add it later. If 2FA becomes available, follow the steps below. If it’s still missing, use the alternative protections listed at the end.
How to Set Up 2FA (When/If Available)
- Log in to your markto.ch account.
- Click your profile icon (top-right) → go to Settings, Account Settings, or Security.
- Look for a section called:
- Two-Factor Authentication
- 2FA
- Two-Step Verification
- Additional Security
- Login Security
- If the option exists, click Enable, Turn On, or Set Up 2FA.
- Choose your preferred method (most common options):
- SMS / Text message (code sent to your registered phone number)
- Authenticator app (recommended – Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, etc.)
- Follow the on-screen instructions:
- For SMS: Confirm your phone number → receive and enter a test code.
- For app: Scan the QR code with your authenticator app → enter the 6-digit code shown in the app.
- Save any backup / recovery codes displayed (usually 8–10 one-time codes).
- Write them down or store securely (not in the same place as your password).
- These are your only way back in if you lose your phone.
- Click Confirm, Enable 2FA, or Finish Setup.
- Log out and log back in to test: you should now be asked for a 2FA code after entering your password.
What Happens After Enabling 2FA
- Every login (new device, new browser, or after clearing cookies) requires the second factor.
- Trusted devices may skip 2FA for 30 days (if the platform offers “remember this device”).
- You can disable 2FA later in the same Security section (requires current 2FA code for confirmation).
If 2FA Is Not Yet Available – Strong Alternative Protections
Until markto.ch adds 2FA, protect your account with these steps:
- Use a strong, unique password (12+ characters, mix of letters/numbers/symbols; never reuse across sites).
- Enable “Remember Me” only on personal devices.
- Regularly review active sessions (Settings → Security → Active Sessions / Where You’re Logged In) and log out unfamiliar devices.
- Keep your registered email and phone number up to date for password reset.
- Never share your password or click suspicious links in messages.
- Log out after using shared/public computers.
- Monitor your inbox for any unusual login alerts from markto.ch.
- Contact support immediately if you suspect compromise (via footer “Contact” link).
Quick Tips
- Authenticator apps are safer than SMS (no SIM-swap risk).
- Set up 2FA on your email account first — it’s the backup for password resets.
- If markto.ch adds 2FA in the future, enable it right away — it’s one of the best ways to secure any account.
