Deleting or Deactivating Your markto.ch Account – Step-by-Step

markto.ch allows you to delete (permanently remove) or deactivate (temporarily disable) your account. Deletion is irreversible and removes all your listings, messages, favorites, and profile data. Deactivation (if available) hides your profile and pauses activity without permanent loss.

Important Before You Start

  • Back up anything important: screenshots of conversations, saved ads, or listings you want to keep.
  • Your data may be retained for legal/compliance reasons even after deletion (per privacy policy).
  • Deletion usually takes effect immediately, but some traces (e.g., old messages in others’ inboxes) may remain visible to recipients.
  • You cannot delete if you have active paid promotions or unresolved reports (clear these first).

Step-by-Step: Deleting Your Account (Permanent)

  1. Log in to your markto.ch account one last time (https://www.markto.ch).
    Use a trusted device — this is your final access.
  2. Click your profile icon or display name (top-right corner).
  3. Select Settings, Account Settings, Privacy, or My Account.
  4. Scroll to the bottom or look for a section called:
  • Delete Account
  • Close Account
  • Delete My Data
  • Account Deletion
  • Permanently Delete Account
    (It’s often under Privacy, Security, or a dedicated “Account” tab.)
  1. Click Delete Account or Request Deletion.
  2. Read the confirmation message carefully — it usually explains:
  • What will be removed (listings, messages, profile)
  • That the action is irreversible
  • Any waiting period (rarely 14–30 days for EU/Swiss users)
  1. Confirm your identity:
  • Re-enter your password
  • Or enter a verification code sent to your email/phone
  1. Select a reason (optional): e.g., “No longer using the service”, “Privacy concerns”, “Other”.
  2. Click Confirm Deletion, Delete Permanently, or Yes, Delete My Account.
  3. You’ll see a final confirmation screen (e.g., “Your account has been scheduled for deletion”).
    You are immediately logged out and can no longer sign in.

If Deactivation Is Available (Temporary Pause)
Some platforms offer deactivation instead of (or before) deletion:

  • Look for Deactivate Account, Temporarily Disable, or Pause Account in the same section.
  • Choose this if you might return later — your data is hidden but preserved.
  • Reactivate by logging in again (or following any reactivation link sent by email).

After Deletion / Deactivation

  • You cannot log in or recover the account.
  • Any active listings are automatically removed.
  • Messages may still appear in other users’ inboxes (but without your profile link).
  • If you change your mind immediately: try logging in again quickly — some platforms have a short grace period (e.g., 14 days).
  • To start fresh later: create a new account with a different email.

Troubleshooting

  • No delete option visible? → Contact support: footer → Contact / Support → message: “I would like to permanently delete my account. Please provide instructions or process the request.” Include your registered email.
  • Can’t log in to delete? → First reset your password (“Forgot Password?”), then delete.
  • Account still appears? → Wait 24–48 hours (processing delay); listings may take longer to disappear from caches.

Deleting your account is a big step — make sure it’s what you want before confirming.
