Exporting Your Data: Downloading Personal Information

markto.ch allows you to request and download a copy of your personal data under privacy laws (Swiss DPA and GDPR principles for EU users). This includes information the platform holds about you, such as profile details, listings, messages, favorites, and activity logs.

How to Request and Download Your Data

  1. Log in to your markto.ch account.
  2. Click your profile icon or name in the top-right corner.
  3. Go to Settings, Account Settings, Privacy, or Data & Privacy.
  4. Look for a section called one of these:
  • Download Your Data
  • Export Personal Information
  • Request Data Access
  • My Data / Data Portability
  • Privacy Dashboard
  • GDPR / DPA Rights
  1. Click Request Data Export, Download My Data, or Export.
  • You may need to confirm your identity (re-enter password or verify via email/phone code).
  • Select the data scope if options appear (e.g., all data, profile only, messages only).
  1. Submit the request.
  • markto.ch will usually process it within 30 days (often much faster, 1–7 days).
  • You’ll receive an email notification when the export is ready, with a secure download link.
  1. Download the file:
  • Click the link in the email (it may expire after a few days).
  • The data is typically delivered as a ZIP file containing:
    • JSON or CSV files (structured data)
    • HTML report (human-readable summary)
    • Copies of uploaded photos/documents (if any)
    • Logs of activity, messages, listings, etc.

What’s Usually Included in the Export

  • Profile information (name, email, phone, location, bio, profile picture)
  • All your posted ads (active, expired, deleted)
  • Messages sent and received
  • Favorites / saved searches / watchlist
  • Notification and login history
  • Any verification documents (if you applied for Trusted Seller)
  • Account creation date, last login, IP logs (if stored)

What’s Usually NOT Included

  • Data of other users (e.g., messages from them are anonymized or limited)
  • Internal moderation notes or reports
  • Data deleted before the request

If No Self-Service Option Is Visible
markto.ch may not yet have a one-click export tool (common on smaller platforms). In that case:

  1. Go to the footer → click Contact or Support.
  2. Send a message:
    “Hello, I would like to exercise my right to access and download my personal data under Swiss DPA / GDPR. Please provide instructions or send me an export of all personal information associated with my account [[email protected]]. Thank you.”
  3. Support will guide you or send the data directly (usually via secure link).

Quick Tips

  • Make the request while logged in for faster verification.
  • The export link is usually time-limited — download promptly.
  • Review the file on a secure device and delete the link/email after saving.
  • You can request this once every few months if needed (no limit under privacy laws).
  • After export, if you plan to delete your account, do so afterward (see “Deleting or Deactivating Your markto.ch Account”).

Troubleshooting

  • No email received? Check spam/junk folder and request again after 7–10 days.
  • Link expired? Contact support for a new one.
  • Incomplete data? Reply to support explaining what’s missing.

Requesting your data export is a simple way to understand what markto.ch stores about you — and it’s your legal right. Do it anytime you want full transparency!
