Lost Access to Conversations – Recovering Old Messages on markto.ch

markto.ch does not store any conversation history or messaging threads on the platform itself. There is no inbox, chat archive, sent/received folder, or message log you can access or recover through your account.

Why Messages Cannot Be Recovered on markto.ch

  • The platform uses only a simple one-time contact form (“Nachricht senden” / “Send message”).
  • Your outgoing message is forwarded directly to the seller’s registered email (or occasionally shown in a basic notification).
  • Replies from the seller come to your email or switch to WhatsApp/phone — nothing stays saved on markto.ch servers for you to retrieve later.
  • No user-facing message history exists → once sent, messages live only in your email client or external messaging app (WhatsApp, SMS, etc.).

Where to Look for Old Messages Instead

Check these places where the actual conversations are stored:

  1. Your Email Inbox (Primary Location)
  • Search for:
    • “markto.ch”
    • Seller’s name / username (if known)
    • Item title or keywords (e.g., “iPhone”, “Sofa”, “CHF 180”)
    • Sender address (often [email protected] or the seller’s personal email)
  • Folders to check: Inbox, Spam/Junk, Promotions, All Mail, Archive
  • Most initial messages and many replies arrive here.
  1. WhatsApp (Most Common Continuation Channel)
  • Open WhatsApp → search for:
    • Seller’s name/number
    • Item keywords
    • Phrases like “markto”, “Abholung”, “CHF”
  • Check Archived Chats (pull down in Chats list → Archived)
  • If you deleted the chat: Unfortunately, WhatsApp does not have an easy recovery for deleted conversations (unless you have a recent backup).

  • Check call history if you spoke by phone.
  1. Your markto.ch Account (Very Limited)
  • Log in → “Meine Anzeigen” / “My Ads”.
  • You may see basic notifications or the original ad text, but no message content or history.
  • No “messages” tab or recovery option exists.

What You Can Do If Messages Are Truly Lost

  • Contact the other party again (if you still have their number/email/WhatsApp)
  • Send a short note: “Hi, I lost our old chat history – is the [item] still available or can you resend details?”
  • Repost or search for the ad
    If it’s your own sold item → check “Meine Anzeigen” for archived/sold listings (may show original description).
    If buying → search markto.ch again for similar items.
  • Ask markto.ch support (last resort)
    Footer → “Kontaktieren Sie uns”
    Explain: “Lost email conversation with seller of ad [link or title] – can you forward any record?”
    → They rarely have access to message content (it’s forwarded, not stored), but may confirm seller email if you provide enough details.

Prevention for the Future

  • Screenshot important agreements (price, pickup time, condition, location) immediately.
  • Save seller’s WhatsApp number or email in contacts right away.
  • Use WhatsApp backups (automatic in settings) so chats can be restored if you change phones.
  • Keep a note in your phone (e.g., “markto Deals” folder) with key details after each deal.

Bottom line: markto.ch has no message recovery because conversations are not stored on the platform. Always rely on your own email, WhatsApp backups, and screenshots for any history.
